PL2501 USB Link Cable on Vista

February 7th, 2009 by kteck | Comments Off | Filed in Hardware

Ever Since going to Vista I was annoyed that my PL2501 based usb link cable would refuse to work. I recently did some searching and found a more updated driver that seems to work on Windows Vista and Windows 7… It successfully transfered over 30gb of data from my Windows 7 machine to my Vista laptop. The offical site for the chip says that you need to buy a new cable for it to work on vista and newer (one of those “Easy transfer cables” but that is not the case it seems :)

There was one issue that i noticed… It fails to transfer any file over 2gb.
